MICRODIA Ltd. announced its new 16GB SDHC 300X card. As the latest addition to MICRODIA's ultra professional XTRA ELITE card family, the 16GB SDHC is a Class 6 flash memory card offering high speed data transfer rates of up to 45Mbps, making it the fastest SDHC in the world.
The XTRA ELITE 16GB SDHC is targeted to serious, high profile professional photographers who require the fastest speed and highest storage capacity currently available for use with high-end DSLR and video cameras.
With a capacity of 16GB, the XTRA ELITE SDHC can store over 8000 high-resolution images, or up to 32 hours of MPEG 4 video. MICRODIA's leading flash memory technology successfully combines high speed, high capacity and high durability into one single memory card in order to fulfill the increasing performance demands of professional photographers.
The XTRA ELITE 16GB SDHC is offered with a specifically-designed SDHC card reader for ease of use. Availability through retail channels is expected for later this month.
"The XTRA ELITE 16GB SDHC is a key development in the flash memory industry as it provides users with the highest storage capacity and read/write speeds to support demanding photo and video applications," said Brad Maurer, Sales and Marketing Director (International) at MICRODIA. "With 16GB, photographers and videographers can shoot in high resolution with the latest DSLR cameras and high-definition videocams without worrying about space, making it easier to capture the very best images and footage."
"Being first to market with a 300X SDHC is an example of MICRODIA's strength in flash memory technology," continued Maurer. "We continue to place heavy emphasis R&D to develop the industries' highest capacities and speeds, exemplifying our core philosophy of helping users to optimize data storage performance for their digital equipment."
MICRODIA's SDHC technology conforms to the SDA 2.0 specification introduced by the SD Card Association last year. It allows manufacturers to develop SD cards with capacities from 4.0GB to 32.0GB. This development meets the ever-growing needs of new generation audio/video and telecommunications devices like camcorders, 3G cell phones, computers, digitail still cameras, LCD/Plasma televisions, GPS systems, PDAs and more. MICRODIA confirms that the new SDHC card will be 100% compatible with SDHC-enabled devices.
MICRODIA's high speed XTRA ELITE cards are built with propriety EPM ("Enhanced Processing Management") Technology for improved efficiency and performance, thereby delivering some of the fastest read/write speeds in the industry. XTRA ELITE cards are also based on Single Level Cell (SLC) NAND Flash techonology, which stores one bit per cell and uses and optimized controller combined with large block NAND technology to achieve high data transfer rates. Compared to Multi Level Cell (MLC) Flash technology, which allows each memory cell to store two bits of information, SLC NAND Flash technology provides excellent performance well suited to professional use, especially those with demanding speed requirements.
With a solid commitment to R&D and continued technical advancements, MICRODIA will continue to play a major role in the flash memory industry.
MICRODIA is looking to develop long-term strategic business partners and distributors in various countries and regions to explore the exponential growth in flash memory card products.
