Thanks to buoyant microSD card demand from Samsung Electronics, Skymedi anticipates that its monthly shipments of controllers will remain strong. With validations with Intel and Micron Technology secured, more controller shipments for 50nm-class NAND flash are expected.

Skymedi estimates that monthly shipments of controllers will remain above 10 million units in November and December of 2007 on rising NAND flash supply and growing orders from Samsung. The company highlighted that the stable interface performance that its controllers deliver for 50nm-class NAND flash is the key reason for winning orders from Samsung. Besides more orders from Samsung, Kingston Technology, one of the key institutional shareholders at Skymedi, is also growing its procurement at Skymedi with most controllers being used in flash disk drives.

Controller for 50nm-class NAND flash has also secured validations from Intel and Micron Technology with shipments in small volume already started, Skymedi said. The company anticipates that 50nm-class NAND flash controller will be its key product in 2008.
